Parkers Party

Kaden and Brock made this very colorful sign for Parker, with the help of Grandma Beattie.

We had a party for Parker yesterday and it was a success. There was lots of people and lots of food, what more can you ask for, to have a good party. Although I don't think that Parker knew the party was for him, I do think that he had a good time. There was two things that I was really worried about. The first was that we wouldn't have enough food, That didn't happen we were almost perfect of our count. I didn't ask anyone to RSVP so it was kind of a stab in the dark. And the second thing was that it wouldn't rain. At 1:00pm it started spitting and looked like it wasn't going to let up, but it did and we almost got through the evening without the showers, but they did grace us for about 10 minutes or so. That didn't stop us from eating or the kids from running around.

This is Parker's closest in age cousins. Maddison is 7 days older and Josh is 2 1/2 months younger. They will be such great friends.

I think that the trampoline was maxed out with kids. How fun!!

The kids had a blast, there were quite a few of them. Some on the trampoline, tree house, or tire swing, or just running around in the bushes or lawn. By the look of my boys at the end when everyone had left, I could tell that they had a fun time. They looked like little orphans. Covered from head to toe in dirt.

The boys were staking out the tree house, for their boys club.

It was so nice to celebrate Parker being home and his health. The miracle of his recovery with some of the people that have been thinking and praying about him these past 5 months. Thank-you all for coming, we really do appreciate all the love and support that you all have shown us.

Beattie Family Reunion

Every year in the summer we have started a tradition, that we have to reserve a weekend that everyone has to be here and we have to spend all weekend together. It has been a really fun thing that we all have to look forward. Each year someone has to plan where we are going and each family picks a meal to cook for everyone and an activity to help entertain 13 grand kids. Luckily Paker and I made it home. This years reunion was almost at the Days Inn in Edmonton, although it probably wouldn't have mattered where we had it, it would have been equally as fun.

This year Leslie and Dustin Michel planned it and they chose to go to Park Lake. It is really fun for little kids and really close to Lethbridge. We all got there at about 12:00pm Friday and set up camp. We headed right to the beach. It was a little windy but I wouldn't expect anything less from Southern Alberta, and the kids didn't notice. The rest of the weekend was full of fishing(Jim's activity) Bon Fires, crafts, more swimming, playing kickball, bike rides, playing on the two parks, going on dingy rides around the lake, going to church, and eating a lot of food and treats!!

We always get a family picture since everyone is there and sometimes that doesn't happen any other time of the year. Some Pictures are better then others.

An Update

Ok so I haven't updated, as to what is happening so I will start with:

July 9, 2010 Friday

I was eating breakfast the day after Parkers Cath and Biopsy (which went really well by the way everything came back negetive for rejection)and I thought this is going to be the worst weekend ever. Jim and the boys werent coming up and Parks and I were going to be all alone. We were going to be able to go home on Tuesday so that was all that I was thinking about and where I wanted to be. I called Luis Parkers transplant Doctor and asked him if I could go home for the weekend on a weekend pass. He said that I probably could, but that it would take some organizing and some paper work to be filled out but it should work. So by the time that we were ready to go and everything was in order we left at 2:00 and got home at 7:00. Jim was very shocked to see me and I think a tiny bit dissapointed. He had just painted Parkers room for me and had a bunch of little things that he wanted to get done before I came home to the caios. But I sure didn't care it was well worth the surprise. The boys were so excited, no I think that is a huge understatment. We let them stay up pretty late and when they did Brock and Kade couldn't get to sleep. So great. Parker also was very happy to see them.
It was Coaldale Settlers days and so we got to go to the candy parade on Saturday morning. We had a bon fire after at Grandma Beattie's house and that is always fun. On sunday night we all got in the van and headed back up to edmonton for Parkers appointment for Tuesday morning.

On monday we headed over to West Edmonton Mall for one last party. We had only been there twice since February and we had some free tickets to one of the attractions so we choose to go to the amusment park. Parker isn't allowed to go swimming for at least 6 months so the water park was out, and we hadn't been on the rides yet. They had a blast.

Tuesday Parker had one more appointment to give the go ahead to go home. One more echo and EKG, and blood work in Edmonton. Everything was still good so we were off. We had to wait till 4:30 to wait till the blood work came back before we could leave town. All the families that wanted to go to Dairy Queen could go and celebrate 25 years of both dairy queen and of Ronald McDonald House could go on a field trip and make our own blizzards. Brock was beside himself. He was so excited. It was really funny. When we got back we cleaned our Ronald McDonald House room (which had way more stuff than I thought was there). 5 months really accumulate. I'm so glad that my mom came up a couple of weeks ago and took a van load home cause we would have had to rent a u-haul. And we were home.

Ryan and Meghan my Brother and sister in law just got back from the Philipines on Tuesday too so that was really fun for me and Jim and our kids. What perfect timing.

Big city excitment

I woke up this morning and opened up the curtains to find the front of Ronald McDonald House almost surrounded by Police vehicles and officers and crime scene tape from the street to the house. Immediately I start thinking of a story that has happened. I have to admit the first thought was someone was murdered then I thought maybe they found an old lady that had died and hadn't found her for a long time. I feel kind of twisted. I've been watching to many NCIS and CSI shows. I watched for about an 1 1/2 hours on and off. The forensic team came with their little white boots and their cameras, and police people were in and out a bunch looking busy.

I went down stairs and was talking to some other people about it and one man got interviewed by a news reporter, I guess to see if he heard or saw anything. I found out that nobody died, but that there was an explosion last night in the house across the street. He asked was it a gas line, and they said "no it was something they were doing". So my speculation is probably drugs. That seems to be happening a lot in Edmonton. I must have been in a very deep sleep, cause I sure didn't hear a thing. He said that there were a bunch of fire trucks too throughout the night!! Crazy. We never have action like this on the farm. All the TV stations were here filming and taking pictures so you can watch it tonight(FRIDAY)on the news to see what really went on today.

The count down is on!!

Today was the last hurdle that Parker had to jump over in order for us to be able to go home. We went into the hospital at 6:00am for his 6 week Cardiac Catherization and Biopsy. This is when they go into his neck or groin veins and go right into his heart. They take a little peice of his new heart to see if his body is rejecting it. He was fist case this morning and so they were in and out in 2 hours. He had to stay upstairs on 4c for 4 hours afterwards then he was able to come home. He did awesome and has recovered fast. If everything comes back ok from the biopsy then we will be able to come home after clinic on Tuesday morning. I'm really looking forward to coming home, and can't wait to get there.

Happy Birthday CANADA!!!

Parker and I were up in Edmonton for Canada Day while Jim and the big boys were back at home. We went to the Silly Summer Canada Day Parade. Parker was really interested in all the colorfull floats that were going by. He wasn't even scared when he heard the fire trucks, which really surprised me.

Jim and the boys went to Hillspring to celebrate. Donna and Dean made a float and they wanted to have their grandkids be on the float with them. It was called the The Seely Cove and the lost boys. Grandma and Grandpa put a ton of work into it and it sure looked good. I think that they won first prize in almost all the catagorys. They had a blast sitting up there on their pirate ship waving to people and throwing candy. I'm sure they felt like they were on the top of the world.
